Whānau Social Worker - Housing First Ōtautahi

About the role: 

As a Whānau Social Worker, you are responsible for building relationships with kaewa (clients), with your colleagues, and community and government agencies, based on rangatiratanga, whakawhanaungatanga and manaakitanga. A number of kaewa on our programme have tamariki out of their care, Oranga Tamariki involvement, Family Court involvement, and whānau, hapū and iwi detachment. You will provide a range of social work support to enhance the mana and self-determination of kaewa, with a particular focus on supporting those with complex whānau needs. 

As well as holding your own case load, you will also provide a mentoring role to key workers, assisting them with more complex interventions. This role also includes supporting the induction of new staff and taking responsibility for students on placement.  

What you will bring to the role:

·           Social work qualification and registration (registration must be maintained) 

·           At least 5 years’ experience working in homelessness services, addiction services, tenancy management or social services

·           Cultural competencies with knowledge of Te Reo me ōna Tikanga

·           Experience working alongside people with high and complex needs

·           Experience working with Oranga Tamariki – Ministry for Children

·           An authentic commitment to working alongside whānau is essential  

·           Have experience in working alongside people with trauma, mental health issues, substance misuse and care and protection

·           Flexible availability to be able to respond outside usual office hours

·           Connections to alcohol and drug addiction services and other community/voluntary organisations supporting kaewa and their whānau 

·           Positivity, flexibility, empathy, confidence and compassion with a non-judgemental attitude

·           Resilience, with the ability to work in an environment of conflict, chaos or unpredictability

·           Demonstrated ability to maintain professional integrity and self-care

·           Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and computer literacy)

·           Computer literacy and skill in the use of computers and related software applications

·           Ability to respond quickly to incidents, quickly risk assess a situation using your own judgement and elevate if necessary

Housing Social Worker & Practice Leader - Housing Christchurch

About the role: 

If you are looking for a Social Work and Practice Leader all in one, this is an exciting opportunity for you! The purpose of this position is to provide social work services to clients/tenants/whānau within the Housing Division by following CMM client work processes and service delivery standards.

Additionally, 40% of this role will provide practice leadership to a small team of social workers/community workers and support workers within the Christchurch Housing Division.  This will include the supervision and mentoring of the social work team and building and strengthening the team to ensure professional service delivery and standards.

What you will bring to the role:

·         Full Registration with the Social Workers Registration Board

·         A qualification in social work

·         Experience as a social work practice lead/supervisor

·         Experience in housing support work and the housing sector

·         An understanding of the relevance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to the services offered by CMM, the impact of colonisation for Māori and a commitment to honouring/giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all practice

·         Experience in working with Community, Iwi/Maori and Pacific peoples organisations and with people from diverse cultural backgrounds facilitating and negotiating culturally relevant decision making 

·         Experience of social work assessment and intervention

·         Knowledge of existing services and networks in Christchurch

·         Ability to lead practice including through the development of processes, procedures and other systems

·         Ability to provide reflective supervision

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills

·         A clean, current driver’s licence

·         Proven ability to meet contract targets and achieve outcomes within a tight deadline

Tenancy Manager

About the role:

The Tenancy Manager will have responsibility for providing tenancy management services to the individuals and whānau who live or stay in CMM housing in Christchurch. They will have responsibility for coordinating the maintenance and repairs of the properties to ensure a good standard of housing as well as managing the relationship with the property owners.

- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, including demonstrated ability to manage difficult tenant relationships
- Experience working with customers from a variety of cultures and in different circumstances

Housing Team leader - Blenheim

About the role: 

The purpose of this position is to grow the housing options available for kaewa across all services.  You will lead a small team of Housing Specialist(s) and will support the team to ensure professional service delivery and policies and procedures are adhered too.

What you will bring to the role:

- At least 5 years leadership experience (leading a team)
- Knowledge of appropriate legislation (such as Residential Tenancies Act and the Children’s Act 2014) and how this applies to your work
- Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act

- Experience working in the housing sector

Key Worker - Housing First Blenheim

About the role: 

As a Key Worker, you will respond to self-referrals, community referrals and other referral sources. The position will be based largely in the community, providing outreach as needed for people who are homeless in Marlborough, and will follow them through the steps of engagement, into housing and their entry into support services. 

You will continue to walk alongside people on their recovery journey as they build a sense of wellbeing and determine their futures, based on their own choices, and self-determined goals. You will have extraordinary inter-personal skills, patience and empathy to build trusting relationships with the Housing First kaewa (clients) and their whānau.

What you will bring to the role:

- Relevant qualification or experience in one of the following fields: a qualification in social services, social work, nursing, mental health, occupational therapy, counselling or similar, 
- And/ or significant experience working in homelessness services and/or addiction services
- Knowledge of appropriate legislation (such as the Children, Young Persons and their Families Act), and how this applies to your work
- Cultural competencies with knowledge of tikanga me te reo Māori
- Connections to alcohol and drug addiction services or mental health services
- Connections to community/voluntary organisations supporting the homeless population
