New Homes for Five Whānau
Published on 12th of September, 2024
In August CMM celebrated the opening of our Somerfield Street housing development, providing five new permanent homes for whānau. This housing development is a partnership with Christchurch South Methodist Parish, who have leased the land to CMM.
“The Methodist Conference decided a couple of years ago that parishes would consider making any surplus land available for social housing,” says CMM Executive Director Jill Hawkey. “CMM has been in conversation with several parishes since then and this is the first local project to be completed, with the parish providing the land and CMM completing the build and managing the houses.”
“With over 2000 households in Christchurch on the Government’s social housing register, this project highlights what can be achieved when we work together.”
