Last tenants move into Karamū

Published on 11th of August, 2022

The last families have now moved into our newest housing development, Karamū, settling into their new homes with the tamariki eagerly excited to see their new bedrooms. Many of these families having come from unstable and unsafe housing situations.

We are leasing 14 homes, a mix of two and three bedroom two-storey units, from the Home Foundation which owns 28 houses in the development. Emerge Aotearoa Housing Trust is leasing the other 14.

“Improved housing is a question of equity. With the opening of these houses, 14 more families leave precarious housing situations to move into brand new, warm and dry homes. We’re very pleased to open this door to whānau and help mark a new chapter in their lives” says CMM Executive Director Jill Hawkey
