As the needs of older people in our care grow increasingly complex, specialised medical equipment is becoming essential to ensuring every WesleyCare resident receives the safe, dignified support they deserve.
For residents living with limited mobility, frailty, or high care needs, simple daily activities can be challenging. Equipment such as overhead hoists enables gentle and respectful transfers to and from bed, helping residents feel secure while reducing physical strain and risk. Specialised beds are equally important, offering enhanced comfort while significantly reducing the risk of falls and injuries. Features such as bed-exit sensors can alert staff when residents attempt to get up, providing an additional layer of safety and reassurance.
WesleyCare Manager Donna Coxshall sees the difference this equipment makes every day. “Specialised equipment makes a big difference in the care we provide to our residents,” she says. “Overhead hoists enable gentle, respectful transfers, while specialised beds reduce fall risks and provide extra comfort to our residents.”
The impact can be life changing. Donna recalls a resident who experienced multiple falls during both the day and overnight. After being moved into a specialised bed, the risk of further falls was significantly reduced, and the resident became noticeably more settled.
“Our residents are coming in older and frailer,” Donna explains. “This equipment supports us to provide safe, dignified care where it is needed most.”
