| Christchurch Methodist Mission is committed to promoting ‘cycles of hope’ by actively addressing the causes and effects of social and economic disparity and injustice. We seek here to expand public debate on important social issues of our time, in order to improve outcomes for those in our community who are disadvantaged. We can build a better cityAs we prepare to rebuild Christchurch, it’s time to address some important social concerns that will impact significantly on what we'll end up with. Welfare ReformOne can hardly expect to improve welfare simply by reducing it. Having people work instead of just accept money is an excellent idea; it won't succeed, however, unless there's jobs for them to work at... The Christchurch Methodist Mission welcomes a debate on welfare in New Zealand, but belief such a debate should focus on facts. We have therefore produced an information sheet regarding welfare reform. Here's our submission to the Welfare Working Group. |
